A trip down memory lane

I gained 10 pounds immediately upon arrival in Los Angeles.  That is because MFP took me to Anarkali for lunch on a regular basis.

Years have passed since we visited this Melrose Avenue beacon of Indian fare.   Last night, because MFP had a coupon for dinner he had won on the radio, we made our way over to the spot where my love of cheap veggies and rice spiced to perfection all began.

The tradition we have kept for many years, is that we visit a dark Indian restaurant and split a bottle of red wine to celebrate our anniversary.  Normally we go to Electric Lotus in Los Feliz, but last night we got all crazy and traveled a little closer to the center of the Hollywood madness.  (No street parking, better people watching.)

Since Anarkali is best-known for feeding industry types a cheap yet exotic lunch, it was nearly empty at dinner time.

We split two spinach dishes and a coconut curry as a part of the vegetarian feast.

(Indian food, though tasty, is not particularly photogenic.)

Though the service was amazing and the price right-on, we found the food to be sort of so-so as Indian food goes.

However, the trip down memory lane, back to the days when MFP was secretly plotting to fatten me up for the frigid Los Angeles winter, made the trip totally worthwhile.

That and the fact that we brought home tons of leftovers which will happily fuel the beginnings of Boston marathon training.

And speaking of that, I just updated My Training.
