The boys and I have spent most of this week eating, me because the blog was down and I had nothing else to do, and them because, well, they like to do that.
Youngest and Middle made this chocolate cake without any assistance whatsoever. Except that I drove them down to Ralph’s to get confectioner’s sugar. It might be a bit messy, but it sure did taste good.
It wasn’t all fun and games, though. I tortured them by taking them to the mall.
When I got a dirty look from some guy at Old Navy I just turned to him and said, “They don’t get out much. Sorry. I leave them home when I can…”
(It’s really the only way to handle the judgment.)
So other than almost having a nervous breakdown because my kitchen was covered in baking powder and egg shells for most of the week, spring break has been absolutely fabulous.
Mainly because I didn’t stay in my car all week driving in circles between three schools dropping off and picking up boys, all their friends, and their stuff.
I don’t think we realize how much we can accomplish when we are no longer slaves to our vehicles.
Like baking chocolate cakes. And filling underwear and sock drawers to the top with new inventory.
We should do this more often.
